Welcome

The Shady Oak, a nineteenth century Inn, sits overlooking Derbyshire's picturesque Goyt Valley in the village of Fernilee near Whaley Bridge. Offering overnight bed & breakfast accommodation and good home cooked food in an area often described as the "honeypot" of the Peak District National Park. Popular with walkers, many of the more popular walks around the Fernilee and Errwood Reservoirs start from the pub, or pass directly by.
Since May 2005, The Shady Oak has been the home and hearth of Peter
Mckinnon, who, after living and working for 20 years in the Lake District is
delighted to be your host along with his staff.
Food is offered in the bar lounge at lunchtime and evenings. From Monday
to Saturday lunch is served from 12.00 until 2.00 p.m. Dinner from Monday to
Thursday is from 6.00 p.m until 8.30 p.m - until 9.00 p.m. on Friday and
Saturday. On Sunday food is served from 12.00 until 8.00 p.m. The menu lists
a selection of traditional home made dishes along with some more imaginative
offerings. As a member of PEAK DISTRICT CUSINE local suppliers are supported
and acknowledged when ever possible.
Three en-suite rooms are available for letting and comprise of two double bedded rooms overlooking the Goyt Valley and one twin bedded room overlooking the courtyard garden.
The Shady Oak is featured in the brochure HEART OF THE HIGH PEAK
and is pleased to bring awareness to this unspoilt tip of Derbyshire. We
believe the area is rich in historical interest and that it is well worth
spending a few days discovering the delights for yourself.
The aim of the business is very simple - to be able to cater for the local village community, to offer well cooked food, using where possible supplies sourced from the county, and to showcase the Lakeland Ales brewed by Jennings of Cockermouth.
